Wine Tastings

Sicily, and in particular the province of Trapani, is one of the areas with the highest intensity of wine producers, which increasingly open their wine cellars and their vineyards to wine lovers. For this reason there are ample opportunities on the island to learn about winemaking methods and indulge in some serious wine-tasting.

In western Sicily, the wine cellars of the Fina and Florio wineries in Marsala also include visits to the various storage rooms, cellars and the barrique cellar, followed by a tasting of 4 or 5 wines, served on a terrace overlooking the reserve natural of the Stagnone overlooking the Egadi islands.

The same tour is possible at the Gorghi Tondi winery in Mazara del Vallo, with a guided tour of the homonymous natural reserve.

Tasting itineraries are possible at some of the best wineries, such as the family-run Botticella or Cantine Giglio winery, with a choice of lunch or dinner with the accompanying wines, as well as guided tours of the vineyards and the cellar for the production process.

As the harvest period approaches, in the months of September / October, armed with secateurs and a basket, you can spend several hours picking grapes at a winery, before tucking into a 4-course lunch, typically comprising caponata, fresh pasta and grilled sausage. The full-day excursion also includes visits to the palmento where the grapes are pressed and fermented, and to the cellarTasting tours include visits to vineyards and cellars.
