Valley of the Temples

The Archaeological Area of Agrigento, in Sicily, was included in 1997 in the UNESCO World Heritage List. The imposing Doric temples are one of the most significant examples of Greek culture and art, and tell us about a thousand-year history that began in the 6th century BC with the foundation of the ancient colony of Akragas.
